Welcome to the History of Chemistry Section!

Founded on the conviction that science is not merely a collection of rules and experiments, but a living process shaped over centuries, the History of Chemistry Section of the Polish Chemical Society (PCS) has set the following goals:

• to promote the history of chemistry as an integral component of the chemical sciences;

• to restore the memory of forgotten and lesser-known researchers whose work forms the foundation of modern science;

• to analyze the evolution of scientific theories in connection with the social realities and biographies of their creators.

The PCS History of Chemistry Section provides a dedicated space for enthusiasts of the history of science. We invite not only chemists but also representatives of other disciplines to collaborate, believing in the profound value of interdisciplinary dialogue. Members of the Section meet during the annual PCS annual meeting as well as through regular online meetings.

Currently, the Section’s activities are focused on:

• popularizing chemical sciences through publications, initiatives, events, discussions, and presentations linked to the broadly defined history of chemistry;

• highlighting the contributions of renowned researchers to the development of civilization, with a particular emphasis on Polish chemists.
